Frozen Echos of the Past

The photograph “Frozen Echos of the Past” taken near the top of Mount Washington, explores the intersection of human fragility and industrial permanence.  There is no path for looking back.

Despite the cold a dense, ethereal fog clings to the ground, swallowing the distance and isolating the subjects in a dreamlike void. It creates a "high-key" background where the sky and earth merge into a single, pale gradient.

You can almost feel the bite of the air through the lens. There is a crispness contrary to what you see.

The train, part of a bygone era of industry, sits as if frozen, while the person represents the quiet, ongoing struggle of the present, moving forward through a world that feels forgotten by time.

The train is still used for transportation to and from the summit. Located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, It is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States. It is the home of the Mount Washington Observatory.
